Superb Dog-Day Cicada | Japanese Anime Nature Art Tee

This design is inspired by my real Superb Dog-Day Cicada (Neotibicen superbus) from the video where I rescued him after finding him floating motionless in a pool. After warming up in the sun, he came back to life, climbed onto my finger, and refused to let go.
Known for being one of the greenest cicadas in North America, this species is famous for its loud summer song and brilliant emerald coloring. The three tiny "jewels" on its head are actually ocelli—simple eyes that detect changes in light while its large compound eyes do most of the seeing.
This artwork transforms that memorable encounter into a dramatic Japanese manga-inspired illustration, celebrating one of summer's most iconic and often misunderstood insects.
