This black-and-white manga edition is inspired by my real Superb Dog-Day Cicada (Neotibicen superbus) from the video where I rescued him after finding him floating motionless in a pool. After warming up in the sun, he came back to life, climbed onto my finger, and refused to let go.
Designed with dramatic manga speed lines, bold Japanese typography, and classic ink-style artwork, this version captures the larger-than-life personality of one of North America's most beautiful cicadas. The monochrome artwork gives it the look and feel of a page straight out of a Japanese manga while celebrating one of summer's most iconic and often misunderstood insects.
